This is an opportunity to travel to the Czech capital to work on your play, writing or translation.

During your residency, you will be housed in the Kafka House in the heart of Prague's historic centre. The organisers will cover all expenses, and you will be expected to promote the local literary scene.

The residency is organised by the Prague UNESCO City of Literature programme. This is one of thousands of EU opportunities for Ukraine.

Can I apply?

This residency is for writers, translators and playwrights who:

  • Live anywhere in the world
  • Have published at least one book, a play script, a translation of a Czech author or two radio plays
  • Are working on a new text, translation or play
  • Are interested in Czech culture
  • Are fluent in English or Czech
What do I need to apply?
  • Completed application: briefly describe your achievements, publications, and the project you will work on during your residency
  • If available, an excerpt from a published book (in Czech or English) or an example of a translated text from or into Czech — up to two pages
