Large grants to support the media from EU

These are grants for civil organisations supporting the sustainability of independent media in Ukraine. You can get up to EUR 600,000 on a project corresponding to one of these objectives: 

  • Internal governance and sustainable financing of media outlets
  • Media resilience external pressures and audience confidence 
  • Investigative journalism 

The project can be a monitoring report, mentorship programme, professional conference, development of the policy in support of the sphere, and anything else boosting independent media Ukraine. However, your project shall include financial support to third parties in the form of a grant programme or prizes. 

You can cooperate with other civil organisations from the EU, EEA, and Eastern Partnership countries to exchange the experience. 

This is one of the seven opportunities offered within the call “Ukraine Civil Society Facility: advancing the role of civil society for better governance, human rights and culture” offering EUR 12 500,000 for the implementation of initiatives in Ukraine.

What do I get?

From EUR 400,000 to EUR 600,000 on the realisation of the project. 

Within the project you shall propose financial support to third parties. You are free to choose the maximum and minimum amount of the value of financial support. 

Can I apply?

Organisers welcome civil organisations that: 

  • Have the legal status
  • Are non-profit-making
  • Are established in Ukraine or registered in an EU Member State, EEA Member State, or Eastern Partnership country

You can apply on your own or in partnership with other civil organisations meeting these criteria. The number of organisations for cooperation is up to you.

What do I need to apply?

There are two stages of application: 

  • Concept note stage. Provide information about the action in the concept note (Annex A.1) and register in PADOR database.
  • Full application stage. Draft the full application form (Annex A.2), logical framework (Annex C), and budget (Annex B). If you apply in a team, all co-applicants must register in PADOR database too.
How do I apply?
The concept note must be submitted online via PROSPECT following the instructions given in the PROSPECT user manual.

  • The lead applicant may submit more than 1 application under this call for proposals.
  • The lead applicant may not be awarded more than 1 grant(s) under this call for proposals.
  • The lead applicant may be a co-applicant or an affiliated entity in another application of the same lot at the same time.
  • A co-applicant/affiliated entity may not be the co-applicant or affiliated entity in more than 3 application(s) under this call for proposals.
  • A co-applicant/affiliated entity may not be awarded more than 1 grant(s) per lot under this call for proposals.
