Doctoral Programme for Research on Ukraine
This is an opportunity to work on your dissertation on Ukraine for three years at one of Germany's leading universities: the European University Viadrina, the Humboldt University of Berlin, or the Free University of Berlin.
You will study in the interdisciplinary doctoral programme in Ukrainian Studies called 'Resilience, Restoration and Transformation. Ukraine in a world of turmoil', which covers history, culture, politics and economics. You will receive a monthly stipend, a comfortable workspace and access to the resources of all three universities.

The scholarship is provided by the European University Viadrina. This is one of thousands of EU opportunities for Ukraine.

This scholarship is for young scholars who:
- Have a master's degree
- Are researching the history, culture, sociology, economics, or politics of Ukraine and want to defend a dissertation on this topic
- Are fluent in English
- Know Ukrainian at a basic level or want to learn it
- CV
- A motivation letter with information about what you plan to do and how the programme will help you with this — up to 700 words
- A title and brief description of the PhD project — up to 500 words
- A scientific description: elaborate on the methods, implementation plan, risks and expected results — up to 5000 words
- A letter of recommendation from the university
- If available, a letter of recommendation from a potential scientific supervisor
- A copy of your master's degree diploma

If your application is successful, the organisers will invite you to an online interview on 17-19 February.
- The organisers will select 15 winners who will spend three years in Germany. Only nine researchers will receive a scholarship for their studies.
- The studies will be conducted in English.
- Unfortunately, the organisers cannot explain why your application was not selected.
