proMOTION: programme of systematic support of international promotion of Ukrainian cinema
proMOTION is the Ukrainian Institute programme designed to increase the presence of Ukrainian cinema and its recognition in international film markets. Each of the four winners will receive up to EUR 8,000 for the promotional campaign, which will take place from December to April 2025.
The Ukrainian Institute implements the competition in cooperation with Eurimages, the Council of Europe's cultural support fund. This is one of thousands of EU opportunities for Ukraine.
This is a competition for film companies that:
- Are officially registered in Ukraine
- Want to launch an international promotional campaign for full-length film projects of any genre and form that are in the final stages of production
- Have exclusive property rights to the film
- Can plan a festival or cinema rental from December to April 2025
- Have no debts to the state and are not connected to Russia, Belarus and Iran
- Application form completed in English: tell about yourself, your professional experience and the film you are applying with. The file title — ‘Film title_proMOTION5_application’ with a signature and stamp, if so
- Scans of documents confirming participation rights: copies of licence agreements for transferring exclusive property rights, an extract from EDRPOU, and a certificate on the absence of direct contacts with Russia, Belarus and Iran. The file title — ‘Company's name_proMOTION5_eligibility docs’
- The strategy of international promotion of the film, titled ‘Film title_proMOTION5_strategy’
- Detailed promo budget, titled ‘Film title_proMOTION5_budget’ with signature and stamp, if so
- Scans of documents confirming the partnerships, titled ‘Film title_proMOTION5_partnership’

By 30 October, send the documents in a letter titled ‘proMOTION5: Конкурсна заявка’ to promotion@ui.org.ua.
The organisers will choose up to four winners. You will find out the results by 2 December.
- Feature films are longer than 70 minutes.
- Organisers will prefer projects that have already confirmed festival premieres or foreign theatrical releases during this period.
- This is the continuation of proMOTION 2024.
