Workshop ’Trends and genres in screenwriting’
What does the audience expect from a horror movie? From a thriller? Join the workshop to learn how to analyse genres and capitalise on playing into and subverting their expectations.
We will start with 12 essential questions to define trends, tropes, and expectations of different genres. Moving to the nuances of the most common types of movies, we will analyse blockbusters like The Shining, Silence of the Lambs, Lord of the Rings, and Die Hard. By the end of a two-day workshop, you will be able to navigate within different genres and identify audience-resonant content trends.
The workshop is offered by the New York Film Academy (NYFA), a leading American private university founded in 1992, within our partnership with Netflix.
