These scholarships are for scientists who remain in Ukraine. The organisers will make sure that you have everything you need to be productive for ten months: a monthly stipend, a community of like-minded people, regular educational events and access to the library.

Virtual Ukraine Institute for Advanced Study (VUIAS) scholarships are managed by the Wissenschaftskolleg and financed by the Volkswagen Foundation Germany. This is one of thousands of EU opportunities for Ukraine.

What do I get?
  • Monthly fellowship: EUR 500 for postdocs and EUR 1,000 for professors
  • Ten-month affiliation with VUIAS from September 2023 to June 2024

Can I apply?

This scholarship is for researchers who:

  • Have Ukrainian citizenship or a long-time residence permit
  • Remain in Ukraine
  • Work at a university or other research institution 
  • Have a good command of active or passive English
What do I need to apply?
  • Completed application form
  • CV with a list of publications
  • Abstract of the project you will be working on — 3-5 pages
  • Motivation  letter— up to 300 words
  • Two sample articles or chapters, at least one must be in English

Documents should be completed in English and in PDF-format.

How do I apply?
Send the application form with all the documents attached to admissions@vuias.org. The deadline is 25 June.
