The Europe Ukraine Desk: study tours and grants for Ukrainian journalists

This is an opportunity to join two educational trips to the EU for Ukrainian journalists. You will visit the editorial offices of independent media and public broadcasters from the EU, meet with government officials and public activists. Organisers will cover all costs related to participation.

Soon there also will be grants for materials about Ukraine for European media, a monthly newsletter and thematic events in Kyiv.

The Europe Ukraine Desk is managed by the German organisation n-ost and funded by the European Commission. This is one of thousands of EU opportunities for Ukraine.

What do I get?
  • Two study tours: Berlin-Brussels-Paris from 29 May to 9 June and Budapest-Sofia-Rome-Madrid on 4-17 September 
  • Networking with colleagues from the EU
  • Participation in the community of media professionals from all over the EU
Can I apply?

The organisers are waiting for applications from journalists and reporters that:   

  • Are freelancers or work full-time in editorial offices of independent media
  • Have experience in covering international news
  • Are oriented in the EU structure 
  • Have a good command of English

  • Completed online form: tell about yourself, projects and media you have previously worked with
  • Motivation — up to 1500 characters
  • CV
  • List of recent publications
How do I apply?

Fill in the online form in English by 9 April. 

Organisers will choose 12 winners. The results will be announced in May.

Good to know
  • The organisers will issue an official invitation to male journalists in Ukraine, but do not guarantee permission to leave the country.
