MediaFit Creators Funds: grants to create content for regional audiences

This is a chance to receive up to EUR 7,000 for material for readers from the east of Ukraine. Find an important topic and DW Akademie will cover the creation costs, find an experienced mentor and organise a series of workshops on the issues that concern you.

The project must be published by 15 August. You can work both independently and in a team with colleagues.

Creators Fund takes place in frames of the MediaFit EU project, which is implemented by DW Akademie in partnership with Transtele Canal France International and Lithuanian Radio and Television. This is one of thousands of EU opportunities for Ukraine.

  • The opportunity to tell an important story that will resonate with readers from Donetsk, Luhansk, Dnipro, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Sumy or Chernihiv regions

Can I apply?

The organisers are waiting for applications from independent journalists and media that:   

  • Have more that three years of experience
  • Have a media outlet that wants to publish your material
  • Have a legal entity
  • Adhere to journalistic standards
What do I need to apply?
  • Completed online form: tell about yourself, the project you plan to implement and the media that will publish it
  • Two examples of work
  • Budget in a form
  • For independent journalists — a CV
  • For media or teams — a portfolio
How do I apply?
Fill in the online form in Ukrainian by 2 April. The results will be announced by the end of April.
Good to know

  • You can create a bilingual project: in Ukrainian and in the language of national minorities and indigenous groups.
  • You can submit multiple applications, but the organisers will support only one idea.
  • You cannot apply if your project is now being supported by another EU project.
