This is an opportunity to go to the cultural capital of Poland to work on your writing or translation project. You will meet Polish writers and introduce them to the Ukrainian literary scene.

During the residency, you will live in the Potocki Palace located on the main square of Krakow and receive a monthly stipend.

The programme is implemented as part of the "Krakowianka" city project, dedicated to the role of women and equality, and is organised by Krakow Festival Bureau and the programme "Krakow — UNESCO City of Literature". This is one of thousands of EU opportunities for Ukraine.

Can I apply?

This residency is for female writers and translators who: 

  • Have Ukrainian citizenship or residence permit 
  • Have a good command of English or Polish
  • Want to implement an interesting literary, translation, or publishing project
  • Have at least one published fiction or documentary book, film or theater script, or a translation

What do I need to apply?
  • Completed application form. Elaborate on your achievements, publications, the project you want to implement during the residency, and motivation
  • CV or biography

All the documents should be completed in English or Polish.

How do I apply?
Send the documents to residencies@miastoliteratury.pl by 6 March.
Good to know
  • The residency will take place in May and June 2023. You will discuss dates and length of stay in the residency individually.
  • Note that applicants from Belarus can also apply.
