Discovering the West: art residencies in Berlin
This is an opportunity to create an artwork on how Western ideas influenced the development of the Ottoman and Persian empires in the 19th century.
Your work will be a response to the exhibition Discovering the West, which is being held in the galleries of North Africa, West and Central Asia. The exhibition explores how news from the West influenced the urban planning, fashion, furniture design and visual culture of the Middle East and led to changes in politics.
The results of your work will be exhibited at the Humboldt Forum Berlin. The organisers will cover the cost of the production, as well as provide a stipend, accommodation and workspace in Berlin.
The programme is managed by the Staatlichen Museen zu Berlin. This is one of the thousands of EU opportunities for Ukraine.
