NUMO: scholarships for Ukrainian librarians, archivists and cultural workers in Germany

This is an opportunity to implement art projects in German libraries and archives.

Organise readings of modern Ukrainian authors, a language cafe or a series of master classes on Ukrainian crafts, continue to teach at a Ukrainian school or university or take a training course. Organisers will pay you a monthly scholarship of EUR 2,000 euros for two months.

The programme is offered by the German Library Association (dbv) with the support of the Federal Commissioner for Culture and the Media. This is one of the thousands of EU opportunities for Ukraine.

  • Chance to grow professionally or implement a project for the Ukrainian community in Germany. You will have access to all the resources of the library or archive, the opportunity to study and participate in activities
  • Networking and sharing experiences with local colleagues, activists and cultural institutions
Can I apply?

This scholarship is perfect for Ukrainian librarians, archivists, scientists, artists, cultural workers, writers and poets, translators, educators and IT specialists who were forced to move to Germany after 24 February, 2022.

What do I need to apply?
  • Online application completed in English or German. Elaborate about yourself, motivation and project you want to implement.
  • Scan of passport: first page and the one with the date you departed from Ukraine
  • Bank account in the EU
  • If possible, confirmation of cooperation from the library or archive

  • Organisers can help to find a partner institution for cooperation. To do this, contact ukraine@bibliotheksverband.de
  • This programme is for private individuals. Groups or organisations are not eligible to apply.
  • You cannot apply for the scholarship if you are employed and working full-time.
