This is the most prestigious EU award which for 20 years honors the best practices in the heritage field. 

You can be rewarded for the enthusiasm in preserving the cultural heritage or for the project of conservation, research, education, and awareness-raising in the sphere. You can check the requirements of each category on the website

The awards of EUR 10,000 will be presented during a ceremony in Prague in the autumn of 2022.

The award was launched by the European Commission and has been run by Europa Nostra ever since. This is one of the thousands of EU opportunities for Ukraine.

What do I get?
  • Chance to win the Grand Prix of EUR 10,000 or the Public Choice Award. 
  • A bronze plaque, which should be installed or displayed in a visible location linked to the winning entry, and an Award certificate.
  • Promotion by Europa Nostra, the European Commission and other partners at conferences and in expert publications etc.
  • Belonging to the network of over 500 heritage professionals and experts across Europe awarded since 2002. 
  • Free membership of Europa Nostra for one year. 
Can I apply?
Entries may be submitted by individuals or organisations who:
  • Are entitled to represent the initiative
  • Have the consent from the owner of the related heritage site or collection
What do I need to apply?
  • Application form, completed in English
  • Up to 30 ​​photographs, drawings, and links to videos to illustrate your submission. 
  • Three reference letters
  • Signed Entrant Declaration and Authorisation Form

How do I apply?
Choose your category and fill in the online form.
 
It is not possible to fill in the form in several stages so better to prepare your answers and other submission material in advance.  
Good to know
  • The projects can be related to tangible, intangible or digital heritage. The jury will consider initiatives realised during the past three years.
  • You can apply only in one category.
  • If your application is shortlisted, the local experts will visit the site or arrange an interview with you. 
  • In case you need to make a very important change to your application after submission, please contact awards@europanostra.org for instructions. You can use this option one time.
