EXTRA SOUND: open call for participation in Reeperbahn Festival for musicians

This is an open call for Ukrainian artists and bands to be the first to represent Ukraine at one of the largest European showcase festivals Reeperbahn in 2021. Two winners will perform for the international audience and take part in networking events, masterclasses, showcases, and conferences. 

Annually, the Reeperbahn Festival gathers over 250 bands and musicians from all over the world as well as music industry professionals. In 2021 the festival to be held on 22-25 September in Hamburg, Germany. The format of the event is either offline, online, or hybrid. 

Participation in Reeperbahn Festival is brought to you by a long-term programme of representation of Ukrainian musicians at key events of the music industry abroad EXTRA SOUND, developed by the Ukrainian Institute. In 2021, we decided to support the programme and became the partners of EXTRA SOUND. A delivery partner of the showcase is Music Export Ukraine.

What do I get?
  • Participation in the world showcase festival Reeperbahn and the opportunity to reach the international audience. You are responsible for covering the transport costs from other cities of Ukraine to Kyiv, and the expenditures related to the border-crossing rules (PCR Test and vaccine).    
  • A powerful platform for the development, featuring numerous educational activities, as well as discussions of the latest industry trends. 
  • Interaction with music industry professionals: influential booking agents, music festival programme managers, owners of music periodicals, record label executives come here to meet new names and promising music projects.
Can I apply?

This opportunity is for you, if you are: 

  • A Ukrainian artist
  • A member of a Ukrainian band
  • A representative of Ukrainian artists and bands 

 

And at least one of the statements below is about you: 

  • You had a concert abroad for the last three years 
  • You have an effective or past contract with foreign or Ukrainian music label
  • You had at least two publications in foreign media for the last two years   
  • You have a professional team in Ukraine: manager, agent, booking manager 
  • You have international contacts 
     
What do I need to apply?
  • Ukrainian citizenship and permanent residence in Ukraine  
  • To be at least 18 years old
  • Fluency in English (B2 level or higher)  
  • Willingness for public communication
  • Proven professional experience
  • Your activities and position must not contradict the principles and values of the Ukrainian Institute

Good to know
  • The musicians representing Ukraine will be chosen by the Reeperbahn Festival’s managers together with the Ukrainian Institute. 
  • The festival may be held offline as well as online. In any format musicians need a sound producer.
