Open call for projects for European Capital of Culture 2023, Elevsis
This is the opportunity to take part in the programme “Mysteries of Transition” prepared by the city of Elevsis as the European Capital of Culture. The organisers are looking for project proposals reflecting the unique features of the city and the contemporary challenges both Elevsis and Europe are facing.
It can be artistic, research or educational initiative in photo, dance, visual or performative art, and more than 20 other areas. You can check the full list on the website.
You will get from EUR 1,000 to 200,000 for the project which you will realise during 2022-2023 in Elevsis or other areas of the Region of West Attica.
The European Capital of Culture is a city chosen by the EU for one year.This is an opportunity to demonstrate the own culture and organise a number of events of European scale.

- From EUR 20,001 to 60,000 for medium scale projects
- From EUR 60,001 to 200,000 for large scale projects
The cooperation with a partner in Greece is appropriate/indicated, in order to facilitate your participation in the selection process but also the implementation of the project.
- Project proposal that fits to the Artistic Vision and the Strategic Objectives of 2023 ELEVSIS.
- Application form completed. Introduce the concept of your project, describe the audience, location and timeline, provide the budget.
If your application is successful, the selection committee will contact you for additional information and documents.
- You will learn the results of the selection after 31 May 2021.
- The creation or expansion of collaboration is encouraged, with priority to Veszprem, Hungary and Timișoara, Romania, which share the title of the European Capitals of Culture in 2023.
