Leonard Bernstein jazz composition contest
This is a contest of jazz compositions with the main prize of EUR 5,000 and an opportunity to hear your work from the stage of the Vienna Philharmonic. Your composition also will be broadcasted on Austrian radio Ö1.
The contest pays tribute to a prominent composer Leonard Bernstein. Get inspired by his innovative approach to jazz and write a composition lasting up to 12 minutes. Be yourself and do not imitate Bernstein.
The contest is carried out by Jam Music Lab University in cooperation with the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra. This is one of the thousands of EU opportunities for Ukraine.

- Prize of EUR 5,000.
- Premiere of your work in the Grand Hall of the Konzerthaus Vienna under the direction of chief conductor Marin Alsop.
- Record by Austrian public speaker ORF and broadcast on the Ö1 programme.
The authors of the compositions, which take the second and third places, will also get prizes — EUR 3,000 for the second place and EUR 2,000 for the third place.

- Fully completed segment of the score, duration one and a half-two minutes

This is the first phase of the competition. If your work is selected you will have to submit the entire composition till 2 June 2021.
