Generation equality: comic and cartoon competition
This is an opportunity to take part in the illustration competition devoted to the 25th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, the most visionary agenda for the empowerment of women and girls, everywhere. Among the awards, there are cash prizes, participation in the exhibition, communications with changemakers worldwide and invitation to the international UN event.
Your drawing must be inspired by Critical Areas of Concern, defined by the declaration, and be without words.
The competition is a part of the UN Women campaign “Generation Equality” for the full participation of women in all areas of life. Your partake is a contribution to the struggle for equal rights.

- EUR 1,200 for the first prize, EUR 750 for the second prize, EUR 500 for the third prize
- Participation in the exhibition during the Generation Equality Forum in Paris (in situ/virtual, depending on the situation)
- Chance to attend the virtual opening of the Forum, and be among the changemakers of this generation, including civil society, international organisations, governments, business, cities, parliaments, trade unions, media
- Presentation of your work on Cartooning for Peace and other contests partners’ websites
This opportunity is a perfect fit for you if you:
- Are between 18 and 28 years old
- Believe in gender equality and realising women’s rights for an equal future
- Want to express your vision of a gender equal generation in a drawing
- Get familiar with the Beijing Conference and its outcome document, the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, and seek inspiration for your drawing in the “12 critical areas of concern”.

- Complete the online form and submit your drawing.
- You may enter one drawing and you can only enter your drawing once.
- Names of the finalists will be publicly announced in May 2021.
