Roots & Seeds XXI: grants for artwork production

These grants are for artists who apply scientific approaches to their creativity and reflect on the themes of biodiversity crisis and plant resistance. 
 
You will get up to EUR 12,500 for artwork production which you will present at Ars Electronica Festival 2022 in Linz. The programme will also cover your travel and transportation of the artwork. 
 
You will have one year to complete the project, starting in May 2021.
 
Grants competition is a part of Roots & Seeds XXI project which promotes better care of the environment through the use of art and science approaches and practices. 
Four European organisations are responsible for the project. This is one of the thousands of EU opportunities for Ukraine.

  • Up to EUR 12,500 for purchase of materials, production expenditures and artists’ fees

  • Participation in some of Roots & Seeds XXI’s international training and exchange of knowledge events in Paris, Barcelona, and Linz

Can I apply?
This open call is for sciart artists or artist collectives, both established and emerging, living in Europe and working with any kind of media and formats.
What do I need to apply?
Completed application form that includes your:
  • Artist statement
  • CV
  • Photos, videos or other materials relating to a minimum of three and maximum of five previous works
  • Detailed description of the artwork: concept, materials, production schedule
  • Budget
