The Ukrainian film industry of the independence era is very young. In 10 years of its existence, we started creating films that win prizes at international festivals, but there is still much to learn.
During the Digital Lab, prosperous film industry pros from the EU, UK, and Ukraine will define the role of producer on each stage of cinema production: from finding the right scenario to searching for funding to shooting to promotion. Producers, directors, screenwriters, actors, and technical team representatives will share their experiences. In the end, you will learn more about cinema production and design your own project of a video.
The Lab will run for nine days from 7 to 15 September 2021. We invite translators: you will communicate with foreign experts fluently.
Carefully study the application guidelines, join the Digital Lab, and produce outstanding films.
What do I get?
- Ready-to-produce video project and the understanding of your tasks on each stage of its implementation: pre-production, production, and postproduction
- More than 15 lectures and workshops on film production: script, funding, team, rights on music, promotion, cooperation with governmental institutions, and EU co-production
- More than 5 hours of mentoring sessions with more experienced peers from the EU, UK, and Ukraine where you will ask them whatever you find interesting and necessary
- A chance to win the stipend on further development — up to EUR 500. You can spend it on projects, courses, books, and other things that advance you professionally
Can I apply?
We welcome film producers that:
- Dream about producing Ukrainian films that are screened in the EU and the UK
- Have an idea of a project of a video they can develop during the Digital Lab
- Have at least three years of professional experience in the film industry
- Have Ukrainian citizenship
- Are of full age

- Two letters of recommendation from employers or professionals in the field of culture
How do I apply?

Good to know
- You can only apply individually. You cannot submit an application in a team with peers.
- You can only submit one application within one open call. If unsuccessful, you can apply again for the next open call or go for another House of Europe opportunity.
- You can only join Digital Labs: culture professionals once. You cannot apply for this open call if you have already participated in Digital Labs for publishers of children’s literature, illustrators, or music managers.
